Why Everspring products vary in EAN and content coverage

Why some Everspring products carry full content and EANs while others don't — and how this design choice gives resellers more flexibility and faster availability.

Written By Bas den Hoed

Some products on Everspring have rich descriptions, dimensions, multiple photos, and an EAN. Others have a title, a price, basic dimensions, and that's it. This is intentional — and once you understand why, it becomes one of the things that makes the platform work for you as a reseller.

💡 The short version: Everspring prioritises product availability over content depth. Resellers — not suppliers — are the webshop specialists, so the catalog gives you a reliable foundation to build your own listings on top of. That same approach makes products fungible across suppliers, which keeps your assortment stable when sourcing shifts.

Our philosophy: availability first

A product that's listed and orderable is more valuable than a product with perfect content that takes weeks to publish. Everspring is built on that principle.

When a supplier adds a new product, we focus on the basics needed to sell it: title, price, base specifications, dimensions, stock, and shipping data. Rich content — extended descriptions, lifestyle photos, marketing copy, EANs — is welcome, but never a blocker for going live.

This means you, as a reseller, get access to the supplier's assortment immediately, instead of waiting for content cycles that might never complete.

Resellers are the webshop specialists

Everspring's suppliers are growers, manufacturers, and importers. They are experts at producing and shipping. They are not, in most cases, e-commerce content specialists — and we don't ask them to be.

You are. Your webshop, your tone of voice, your audience, your SEO strategy, your photography style — that's your craft. The catalog gives you accurate base data; you turn it into compelling listings that match your brand.

This split is deliberate. It keeps suppliers focused on what they're good at, and gives you full control over how products show up in your shop.

Why this enables flexible sourcing

Many products on Everspring are homogeneous — multiple suppliers offer the same item with the same base specifications. A 12cm Monstera deliciosa from Supplier A is, for all practical purposes, the same plant as a 12cm Monstera deliciosa from Supplier B. The base specs are enough to identify what the customer is buying.

Two metaphors that make this concrete:

  • A litre of water doesn't need detailed specs. Volume and purity are enough. Your customer doesn't expect a unique product description per bottling plant.

  • A houseplant is the same: species, size, pot size. Beyond that, individual plants vary naturally, and resellers don't market the variation — they market the species.

Because base specs are sufficient to identify the product, Everspring's system can route an order to whichever supplier has it in stock, without requiring you to maintain separate content per supplier. If Supplier A runs out, the same SKU can be fulfilled from Supplier B — your listing doesn't change, your customer doesn't notice, and you keep selling.

If we required every supplier to fully enrich every product, this flexibility would disappear. You'd be tied to a single source, and out-of-stock at that source would mean out-of-stock for you.

What this means for you as a reseller

  • Use the base data as scaffolding. Titles, dimensions, weight, pot size, lifecycle notes — all reliable. Build on top of them with your own copy.

  • Write your own product descriptions. They'll perform better in search than copy shared with every other reseller, and they'll match your brand voice.

  • Use your own photography where you can. Suppliers' images are functional; your own images build trust and conversion.

  • Issue your own EANs. Manufacturer-issued EANs are shared with every reseller selling that supplier's stock. To list cleanly on marketplaces or Google, you need your own. See brand registration and EANs for the how.

This isn't a workaround or a limitation. It's the design that makes Everspring's catalog work — broad, available, and adaptable. Your edge as a reseller comes from what you build on top of it.
