Selling on Bol.com with Everspring products

Setup checklist, common rejections, and best practices for selling Everspring products on Bol.com without listing conflicts.

Written By Bas den Hoed

Bol.com is the largest online marketplace in the Benelux, and a natural channel for resellers selling consumer goods. This guide covers what Bol expects, where Everspring fits in, and the most common reasons listings get rejected or suppressed.

πŸ’‘ Before you start: read how marketplace distribution works and brand registration and EANs. Both are prerequisites β€” Bol.com will not accept listings without them done properly.

How Bol.com verifies your listings

Bol runs an automated check on every listing you submit. The two key fields it validates:

  • EAN β€” must exist in the GS1 registry and be linked to your brand.

  • Brand name β€” must match a registered trademark you own (or one you're authorised to sell under).

If the EAN is registered to a different company (typically the manufacturer), or if the brand field doesn't match the EAN's owner, Bol either rejects the listing outright or suppresses it from search. Repeated mismatches can lead to account warnings.

⚠️ Do not use the manufacturer's EAN. Even if the product on Everspring carries one, that EAN belongs to the manufacturer (e.g. Elho, Chamaedorea Growers BV) β€” not to you. Bol's check will see dozens of resellers using that same code and either suppress all of them or pick one based on its own logic. The only reliable way to list on Bol is with EANs registered to your own brand.

Setup checklist

  1. Bol.com seller account β€” sign up at verkopen.bol.com. Bol requires a Chamber of Commerce (KvK) registration and VAT number.

  2. Registered brand β€” BOIP (Benelux) is sufficient for Bol. EUIPO also works.

  3. GS1 prefix β€” your own EAN range, registered to your brand.

  4. Webshop catalog populated β€” Everspring products synced to Shopify or WooCommerce, with your own EANs assigned.

  5. Integrator connected β€” Channable, ChannelEngine, or EffectConnect, configured with your Bol seller credentials.

  6. Category mapping β€” Bol's categories don't always match your webshop's. Map them carefully via your integrator; misclassified products get hidden.

  7. Delivery promise β€” set realistic delivery times based on Everspring's shipping data. Missing the promise hurts your seller score.

Common rejections and how to fix them

  • "EAN already in use by another seller" β€” you're using the manufacturer's EAN, and another reseller (or the manufacturer themselves) has already claimed it. Replace with your own EAN tied to your brand.

  • "Brand not recognised" β€” your brand isn't registered, or the registration doesn't match the EAN. Verify both at GS1 and BOIP/EUIPO.

  • Listing suppressed in search β€” usually a category mismatch, missing required attribute, or content quality issue. Check Bol's product feedback panel.

  • "Product info conflicts with existing listing" β€” Bol uses a single product page per EAN. If multiple resellers list under the same EAN with different titles/images, Bol picks one and overrides yours. With your own EAN, you control your own page.

Best practices specific to Bol

  • Write your own product titles and descriptions. Bol penalises duplicate content shared across sellers.

  • Use your own product photos. White-background main image with optional lifestyle shots performs best.

  • Keep stock buffers. Bol punishes cancellations harshly. If Everspring stock dips on a product you sell heavily on Bol, set a safety margin in your integrator.

  • Monitor your seller performance metrics in Bol's seller dashboard β€” track-and-trace upload rates, on-time delivery, customer rating. They directly affect your visibility.

  • Pricing β€” Bol favours competitive prices for the buy box on shared product pages. With your own EAN, you have your own page and don't compete in a buy box.

Where Everspring fits in

Everspring supplies the products, the stock data, and the order fulfilment. Once an order comes in via Bol β†’ your webshop β†’ Everspring, the order is routed to the supplier and shipped to your customer.

Everything Bol-facing β€” your seller account, brand registration, EANs, listing content, category mapping, customer service tone, return handling on Bol's side β€” is yours. Everspring's role is to make sure the underlying product flow is reliable.
