3.1 Add Smart Filters Based on Relevant Attributes

Good filters help customers quickly narrow down their options and find exactly what they need. Without them, browsing becomes frustrating—and sales suffer.

When your shop offers dozens—or even hundreds—of products, customers need help navigating that choice. Filters let them reduce information overload and find the perfect match based on what matters most to them.

Think of it this way: if someone is looking for a low-light plant in a small pot, they should be able to find it in just a few clicks—not by scanning page after page.

What you can do:

  • Add filters for key product attributes (e.g. size, sunlight needs, pet-friendliness, water usage)

  • Prioritize filters that solve problems or match customer goals

  • Group filters logically (e.g. “Care level”, “Ideal location”, “Pot size”)

  • Make filters visible and usable on both desktop and mobile

A strong filter system improves customer satisfaction, speeds up decision-making, and reduces bounce rates.
